Ameer Jamaat-i-Islami Karachi, Muhammad Hussain Mahenti has welcomed the appointment of Mehboob Anwar, as Sindh Election Commissioner. In a statement issued here on December 20, Mahenti stressed upon the need to initiate preparation of new electoral rolls as soon as possible adding JI will cooperate with provincial Election Commission at every level.

He further said the procedure of the preparation of correct and accurate electoral lists is vital for holding transparent elections. "No pressure should be felt while preparation of new electoral rolls", Mahenti added. He said the former Sindh Election Commissioner was responsible of irregularities and anomalies found in previous electoral rolls adding, his dismissal from the post of Sindh EC was the true reflection of the feelings and emotions of the people and political parties.

Mahenti hoped the newly appointed provincial EC will not repeat the mistakes of the past adding if new electoral rolls will once again prepare on unit and sectors offices then the whole election process will be considered doubtful and the political parties will not accept the election results.-PR
